Military

Bless the Lord, who is my rock, he gives me strength for war, and skill for battle.  He is my loving ally and my fortress, my tower of safety, my deliverer.  He stands before me as a shield, and I take refuge in Him.  He subdues the nations under me.
Psalm 144:1-2

In today's world of long deployments, frequent training exercises, and a transient lifestyle, military families need a ministry more than ever that understands what they are going through and can give them the support they need and deserve.  WCC is committed to support our soldiers and their families as they serve our country and sacrifice for our freedoms.

The Military Ministry at Woodlawn Community Church of the Nazarene serves our congregation and the military community through endeavors that support families on the home front and soldiers serving abroad.

Children

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made."
                                                                             (Psalm 139; 13-14)

OUR PURPOSE:
Woodlawn Community Church Children's Ministries exists to be an ambassador of Jesus Christ to the children and families in the community we serve. All of our efforts are intended to glorify God by reaching those within our influence with the Gospel message embodied in the Great Commission.

OUR MISSION:
We seek to fulfill the Great Commission by equipping parents and volunteers to meet children wherever they are in their spiritual journey, and leading them in their next step of faith, understanding and commitment.

OUR VISION:
Our vision at WCC is to make an impact in children's lives by creating the most informative, innovative and imaginative children's ministry, bringing the love of Christ to this generation. We will make an impact in children's lives and fulfill the purpose of our vision by:

Introducing children to the Gospel
Ministering to their needs
Praying for them, that they will
Accept Christ as their Savior
Connecting them with other Christians
Training them for a life-long relationship with Christ

OUR GOALS

  • To provide a safe, secure and loving environment for children.
  • To help children feel a warm sense of belonging to their church family and to ensure each child feels welcomed and wanted.
  • To help each child understand that God is real and that a personal relationship with Him gives meaning to life.
  • To aid each child in accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior.
  • To help each child develop relationships with other believers and nonbelievers.
  • To provide children the opportunity to participate in worship and ministry.
  • To help families provide their children with a Christian Heritage by supporting them in their spiritual nurture.
  • To provide godly leaders who are adequately trained to serve as positive role models as they minister to children
  • To have an organized outreach program that will reach people in our community by ministering to their needs.
  • To provide life changing education for our children by utilizing quality resources and continually training and encouraging our volunteers.

Nursery

Our nursery ministry consists of newborn to toddling age (approximately 15 months). Nursery care is offered during Sunday Morning Worship and Sunday Evening Small Groups.  The goal for our Nursery Ministry is to provide a safe and loving atmosphere for babies so that parents will feel secure in leaving their child while they attend worship. It is a pleasant place where fussy children are held and soothed and adults speak in gentle and loving tones.

Our toddler ministry

is for children 15 months to 3 years old. Toddler care is offered during the Sunday Morning Worship and during Sunday evening Small Groups. We want to partner with parents to introduce little ones to their first ideas of Jesus. Together with parents we can lay the foundation of trust and Christian love.

Our cherub ministry

is a place where 3 and 5-year old children enjoy a time lead by caring parents and adults who use fun curriculum to teach important Biblical truths. We provide a place where children play and learn about Jesus. Cherub care is provided Sunday morning and in our Sunday night Small Groups.

Sunday School

We offer Sunday School classes for 3 years through 5th grade every Sunday Morning in the 9:30 hour.  Each class uses a creative Bible based curriculum and is taught by a loving and trained teacher with a heart for the age they teach.

Children's Church - J.A.M. (Jesus and Me)

J.A.M. is our 11 a.m. Sunday morning worship for K - 5th graders, and it's one of a kind! Lively singing, interactive multimedia, sound biblical teaching, and relational small groups are part of an exciting, age-appropriate environment that children love!  The children also enjoy time together during Sunday evening Small Groups.

YOUTH

Misson Statement
Helping people take their next steps toward God...together becoming fully devoted followers of Christ Jesus.

Vision Statement
Encourage and equip each individual to seek, develop, and nurture a solid personal relationship with God, the Father,
through Jesus Christ, the Son, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Key Verses
1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV: Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourself fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

1 Timothy 4:12 NIV: Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.

Things To Rember:

  • As with any relationship, your relationship with God is dependant on the amount of time you spend with Him. We encourage you to devote time to God in prayer and reading the Bible.
  • Discipleship is an important part of growth.  As a collective, we can help one another and lead others to Christ.
  • Encourage each other. Do not be afraid to share your experiences, thoughts, or questions.
  • Everyone has value!
  • We are a part of something bigger than ourselves
